When St. Alban's Episcopal Day School was established almost 60 years ago, it was located in the parish hall of the original St. Alban's Episcopal Church on East Van Buren here in Harlingen.  In its first year, enrollment consisted of 28 children between the ages of three and five.  Even with its humble beginnings the school was recognized within the state of Texas.  An April 29, 1949 edition of the San Antonio Evening News headline read, "St. Alban's Day School Harlingen is a Success".  The article focused on the merits of educating children not only academically, but spiritually as well.  The tradition of educating the WHOLE child in a positive setting of community and faith has always been at the heart of our mission.

Currently, our school is home to 275 students ranging from two years of age through grade 6 as well as 40 staff members. Our campus has grown through the years to keep pace with our enrollment.  St. Alban's Episcopal Day School moved to its current location on Austin Street in 1954 and since that time, we have added the facilities that we enjoy today.

St. Alban’s Episcopal Day School has a reputation in the community for academic excellence and a well-rounded curriculum.  Our mission statement exhibits our desire to develop a student who is not only outstanding academically but is also developed spiritually, socially, emotionally and physically. Our students consistently score a full two grade levels above their peers in nationwide standardized math and reading tests.  They routinely place among the best in both Science Fair and interscholastic academic competitions.  In addition to the basic academics, the children take fine arts classes including Spanish, Art, Music, Computers and Physical Education.  These classes contribute to the extraordinary education that St. Alban's Episcopal Day School provides.  We are committed to building tomorrows leaders today!

So what makes St. Alban’s different?  We believe that our balanced approach to education is at the heart of what makes St. Alban’s extraordinary.  Small class sizes and an individualized approach to education creates students who are lifelong learners.  In addition, our school is striving to be on the cutting edge of technology, teaching students to use technology to help them be problem solvers and innovative thinkers.  Our curriculum is knowledge-based and hands-on and our teachers are exceptionally dedicated, well-qualified and experienced.

If you would like your child to have an exceptional well balanced education, consider St. Alban's. Call for a tour today and start your child on the road to learning that is useful, conceptually grounded and real world relevant.
